Step 1: Shutting off the water and gas connection
It is important to first shut down the water and gas connections with the water heater before starting with hot water heater installation. If you find that your old machine is not working efficiently or you are interested in replacing your old heater, first turn off the connections. You need to turn the shut-off valve off by turning it at a quarter. This would disconnect the gas lines. Next, you need to shut off the main water supply and ensure the draining of the water present in out by opening the faucets.
Step 2: Draining the water from the tank.
The next step which you need to undertake is draining the water which is left back in the tank. The water is likely to be hot, so, you should make it sure that you do it cautiously. Disconnect the gas line too by using a pair of wrenches to unscrew the pipe.
Step 3: Cutting off the water pipes
After disconnecting the gas pipes, the next important thing which you need to do while hot water heater installation is unscrewing the vent pipe. You need to cut down the hot and cold water channel using a pipe cutter. And then remove the old heater.
Step 4: Attaching the relief valve
Next, wrap the threads of the new valves which will be used for temperature regulation and pressure relief. Use tapes to secure it. Next, you need to screw it tightly in the tank using a pipe wrench.
Step 5: Attaching all the parts
The next step which you need to undertake for a successful hot water heater installation is soldering the new adapters and screwing back all the parts. You need to also set up the hot water and cold water pipes and secure their position. Make sure you do it properly so that they do not face the issue of corrosion.
Step 6: Setting up the water and gas lines
Once you have put up the new water heater in its position and secured the water inlet and outlet, the next step which you will follow is setting up the water pipes and the gas connection. You need to reattach the vent tightly. In order to secure the gas lines, usually, two wrenches are used so that connection remains firm and secured.
