The Industrial fans accommodate a steady flow of air to various parts of the structure or building with the help of motors. These machines can also cool down certain industrial appliances and enhance their working capacity. They are very helpful in maintaining a certain atmosphere which is usually required for an industrial setting. Apart from the above mentioned benefits they can also be used to perform excellently in exhaust systems, transport system, air purifying, air-conditioning and many other systems and applications. Mainly for the Electrical power production industry and food processing industry, this type of fans are used.
Types of Industrial Fans:
The industrial fans contain a number of blades which remain connected to a hub and shaft that rotate with the help of a motor and perform a number of functions. These fans can be categorized into two general types - Centrifugal fans and Axial fans.
Axial Fans or Propeller fans - This type of machine moves a huge amount of air at a very low pressure. Therefore axis fans are used in such places where large amount of airflow is required. Along the axis of the fan hub the air makes both entry and exits. The Axial fans contain wheels that can be as small as 0.3 meter and as huge as 9 meters in diameter.
Centrifugal Fans - The centrifugal force gets generated from the centrifugal design of this kind of industrial fans. The centrifugal fan wheel contains a scroll-shaped fan housing. The air or gas goes inside the spinning fan through the central hole and then it is moved outside the wheel with the help of an outlet. According to the shapes and position of the blades, the centrifugal fans can be divided into two main categories, like: 1. Forward curved centrifugal fans. 2. Backward curved centrifugal fans.
The forward curved centrifugal fans bear many small blades those curve in the direction of the rotation. This type of fans are generally used in safety cabinets and ducted systems. On the other hand, the backward curved centrifugal fans are very energy efficient and they bear lesser number of large blades which curve away from the rotating direction. They require more speed compared to the forward curved industrial fans. This fan may be used with or without a scroll housing.
Steps to follow while buying the industrial Fan:
There are many factors involved in selecting the right industrial fan. Most important is that it should meet up to your expectations. Therefore the selection should be done wisely. Let us now discuss the steps to determine what type of fan you need.
Ducting - Ducting is an important feature for checking the performance and efficiency of the fans. This factor is responsible for the price of the fans.
Total airflow - While selecting the industrial fan, one has to make sure if there is adequate Cubic Feet per Minute (CFM) air flow for the duct pipe.
Static pressure - The static pressure of the industrial fans must be checked as the amount of air moving through the pipe, hose, and filter depends on it.
Density - The variation of barometric pressure results in density changes. Therefore it is an important factor to be considered while selecting fans that how does it work on standard conditions.
Air temperature and altitude - The operating capacity of the machines are different and thus you must know in which temperature and altitude your machine will function properly.
Material characteristics - The material of the fan or blower should be on your consideration while buying a product.
Safety - We have to know regarding the safety conditions of the machineries before buying. A specialist has to be consulted in this regard to get right guidance.
All the above mentioned factors are important in ensuring maximum efficiency and reliability of the industrial fans and thereby these are to be considered seriously before buying the product.
