Gucci is one of the world-renowned and very popular Italian fashion labels that was founded way back in the year 1921 by Guccio Gucci. In the year 2004, Tom Ford presented his last collection with the brand Gucci and was replaced by Frida Giannini. In the year 2006, Giannini had taken over the complete control of both women’s and men’s ready-to-wear designs and served in this role until the end of 2014.
At the time when Giannini left, it was perceived by many that the brand would become irrelevant or stale but to everyone’s surprise, Alessandro Michele was announced to be the brand’s creative director.
Although Michele had worked for a long time of 12 years, he was still relatively unknown as a designer. There were a lot of apprehensions where he would take the brand as a Creative Director but eventually Michael’s unique style and blending Gucci’s classic penchant for opulence and extravagance with a theatrical twist has brought in huge success for the brand.
